10 Favorites of 2010Category: General   Dec 31st 2010  09:49AM   0

First, let me thank everyone for your continued beauty, kindness, and overall coolness throughout  2010. You have all been a huge contribution to my life  and I am honored to be your practitioner. If this is your first time visiting here, I look forward to meeting you and finding how I can be of best service to you and your life.

Now, you will notice the title says favorite finds of 2010 - which means in my book it doesn't necessarily have to be from 2010 - just that I happened to find it this year, although most of them are from this year. Okay - here's the good stuff in no particular order:

1. Flight of the Conchords Sugar Lumps Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ozSSseCh3U
So funny makes my belly hurt

2.  Modern Family Television Show
One of the best series that will ever hit television - it's really really funny, heartfelt without being stupidly sentimental and captures the complications of the modern day family perfectly.

3.  My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One Night Stands  by Chelsea Handler
Funniest book I ever read in my life and the only book that people (guys) would want to talk to me about on the subway - of which I polity declined and quickly stuck my face back in the book

4. Spice Market Restaurant in Meatpacking District  The atmosphere is enchanting, the food exquisite, and even when it's packed the service is so good you feel like it's your private restaurant.

5. The Highline
One of the best uses of an outdated structure ever conceived in the city. And, it makes a great date - The Spice Market, then The Highline - super romantic

About the Park

EnlargeSection 1 Landscape

The High Line was originally constructed in the 1930s, to lift dangerous freight trains off Manhattan's streets. Section 1 of the High Line is open as a public park, owned by the City of New York and operated under the jurisdiction of the

New York City Department of Parks & Recreation

. Friends of the High Line is the conservancy charged with raising private funds for the park and overseeing its maintenance and operations, pursuant to an agreement with the Parks Department.

When all sections are complete, the High Line will be a mile-and-a-half-long elevated park, running through the West Side neighborhoods of the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen. It features an integrated landscape, designed by landscape architects

James Corner Field Operations

, with architects

Diller Scofidio + Renfro

, combining meandering concrete pathways with naturalistic plantings. Fixed and movable seating, lighting, and special features are also included in the park.

6.

The IPad.

Alright, so I don't actually own an IPad yet. But, I couldn't let this list go past without mentioning one of the coolest products to come out of the 21st century so far. I haven't met a single IPad owner who is not completely in love and must immediately demonstrate everything that it can do. The amazing thing is everyone shows me something different. IPad - this is our year to get together.

7.

Feist

I don't think Feist is capable of a bad song. Her albums are such a huge blessing to the music industry.

8.

The Room Mate Grace Hotel Pool and Spa

The public is welcome to this hidden gem in the heart of Times Square. Every night they have different party themes.  It sports a little pool with swim up bar, a live DJ, a sauna and huge steam room and plenty of lounging areas. And, the crowd is very cool and sexy (and respectful to the ladies)

9.

Zombieland

I could easily write a list of my Top 10 films for this year. But I am choosing this one because it accomplishes a lot of things at once. It's unrelentingly cool, adds a truly new voice and vision to the genre,  it's very funny, it's a sharp social commentary, and the acting is pitch perfect. The scenes with Bill Murray alone are worth seeing it for.  I don't remember ever laughing so hard at a horror film. It's the only one that I would ever want to see multiple times. I actually saw this on the night before Thanksgiving - weird I know.

10.

15 year old Tells Establishment to Stick-it youtube video  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U_gHUiL4P8

This took my breath away.

Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

Warmly, Christina O
